Homemaking Services

One of the earliest signs that a loved one may need help is their inability to keep their home as clean as they did in the past or increasing difficulty in performing simple household tasks like doing laundry or preparing meals.

A Neighbors aide can assist your elderly family member with light housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, meal planning, food preparation and other tasks so that they can remain in the comfort of their own home longer and so that you know they are clean and eating properly at all times.

Who Needs Homemaking Services

Your loved one may need a Homemaking Aide if you start to notice the following warning signs:

  • Unwashed utensils or dishes put away dirty
  • A sticky kitchen
  • A dirty bathroom
  • Expired food in the fridge
  • A lack of food in the cupboard or fridge
  • Soiled linens
  • An unpleasant smell in the house
  • Weight loss which may be caused because your loved one is having difficulty preparing meals
  • A loss of interest in eating
  • Body odor
  • Continually wearing the same dirty clothes

How Our Homemaking Aides Can Help

No one enjoys living in a dirty house or wearing dirty clothes so a Homemaking Aide can make your loved one feel more comfortable in their home.

Hiring a Homemaking Aide can ease your loved one into accepting additional home care services later if their needs change. Many older people resist the idea of outside help but having a Neighbors Homemaking Aide will get them accustomed to having someone else in their home and help them realize that accepting help is not a sign of failure, but something that can make their lives easier and more enjoyable.

Our Homemaking Aides can assist with:

  • Light housekeeping
  • Laundry
  • Grocery shopping
  • Meal preparation

Please note: Homemakers do not provide personal care such as bathing and dressing and do not do full household cleaning or heavier tasks.

If your loved one needs help with grooming, bathing, toileting or mobility, we would be happy to talk to you about the services that could be provided by a Personal Care Aide.
